Description - The Making of Mollie by Anna Carey

It's 1912, and Mollie Carberry's life in the relatively new middle class north Dublin suburb of Drumcondra seems very boring. Then she notices that her older sister Peggy and the family's maid Maggie seem to be plotting something, discovering a stash of leaflets demanding votes for women. It turns out that Peggy is following in the footsteps of Dominican College's (real life) most notorious Old Girl Hanna Sheehy-Skeffington and has joined the suffragette cause. Mollie and her friend Nora gradually become converted to the cause, sneaking into meetings and dispersing leaflets. While Mollie and Nora's youthful activities get them into trouble with their parents and school, Peggy and Maggie face more serious consequences when the grown-up suffrage campaign takes a more serious turn. Mollie and Nora must face the question of how far a girl should go for her beliefs.
