Description - Alain Elkann Interviews by Alain Elkann
"You have to be equal to the person you interview, even the most famous or powerful. It is impossible to be arrogant or humble. Just be yourself and never prepare the questions. Only the first one, in order to start. The interview has to be like a short story: a beginning, the central part, and the end." - Alain Elkann Alain Elkann has mastered the art of the interview. With a background in novels and journalism, and having published over twenty books translated across ten languages, he infuses his interviews with innovation, treating them like narratives and allowing them to flow freely and organically. By only preparing one initial question, Elkann brings a unique style to the age-old craft and ensures that no two are alike. Maintaining a weekly interview column for the Italian national newspaper La Stampa since 1989, Elkann's interviews provide an unprecedented window into the minds of some of the most well-known and -respected figures of the last twenty-five years. AUTHOR: Alain Elkann's background is as noteworthy as many of the subjects of his interviews. He has been involved with Italy's cultural ministry for the last ten years, first as counselor to the Italian cultural minister for five years, and then as an adviser for cultural events and foreign relations to Minister Sandra Bondi. He has worked directly with influential Italian author Alberto Moravia, Prince Hassan Bin Talal of Jordan to produce a book on Islam, Chief Rabbi Elio Toaff, and archbishop Carlo Maria Martini of Milan. Awarded the Legion d'Honneur by the French Republic, Elkann presently serves as president of the Foundation for Italian Art and Culture (FIAC) and is a professor at the University of Pennsylvania.
