It's 1920 and Britain is trying to move on after World War 1. Clementine, who nursed on the front and suffered her own losses, is trying to settle back into comfortable middle-class life as a doctor's wife. But when she meets Vincent, a man so damaged he must wear a mask to hide his scars, a dangerous and magnetic attraction develops between them.

As their passion erupts and takes a darker turn, it threatens to spell disaster.
