Description - Dangerous Women by Elaine H. Kim
This anthology is a collection of essays on the politics of Korean and Korean-American gender and sexuality. The essays address the theme of Korean nationalism and gender construction, issues related to colonialization and decolonization processes, including Korea as imaginary nation, national woman, and gendered nation. Together, the essays problematize the troubled category of women, in the imaginings of a national community under colonialism, neo-colonialism, and marginalization in the metropolitan centre. The essays in the anthology chart the sites of construction/deployment and attempt feminist intervention, in order to recuperate womanhood. Some of them critique national feminism, which is another hegemonic discourse.
