A Girl Called Tim is about an unrelenting quest to reclaim identity, grab hold of the hand of that little girl lost, and set out on new adventures to rebuild and explore true sense of self. This book is about hope and never-giving-up. At age 11, June developed anorexia nervosa, an illness that challenged and shaped her life. A love of words became a tool for survival and she became a senior writer, editor and newspaper columnist. After recovering from her illness at age 55 in 2006, June departed her journalism career to write books - combining life experience and professionals skills to disseminate evidence-based research for health practitioners and mainstream readers. Besides A Girl Called Tim, titles include: My Kid Is Back; A Collaborative Approach to Eating Disorders; Anorexia Nervosa - a Recovery Guide for Sufferers, Friends and Families; A Clinician's Guide to Binge Eating Disorder; and ED says U said - Eating Disorder Translator. Another three titles - on multi-family therapy, bulimia nervosa and journal writing - are due for release in 2015. A mental health advocate, June writes and speaks internationally on the theme 'Hope at Every Age' and serves on national and international mental health and advocacy organisations. Her website and blog supports this work. She also presents workshops on writing as a therapy and making your life count. June is currently studying for PhD at CQUniversity, Australia, working on how diary writing can be utilised in the treatment of eating disorders. June, who lives by the sea, balances her passion for writing and ED advocacy with love of family (four children, five grand children) and friends.
