Description - The History of the Kiwanis Club of Florence, Alabama - First Twenty-Five Years (1922 - 1947) by David B. Beasley
The extensive research and work invested by David Beasley into this book is incredible. The history of the Florence Kiwanis Club chronicles the civic works of the club through the historical eras of times past as reported by the newspapers of the time. It is a 'must read' for anyone interested in how ordinary citizens and community leaders strived to improve their club, community and nation through the annals of history. James Engelthaler David Beasley's history of the Florence Kiwanis Club fills a niche in the history of this proud civic organization by examining in great detail the history and activities of the club as reported in the Florence Times from the 1920s till today. The material on the club is set into its historical context by the inclusion of major headlines from the paper that occurred at the same time, so that the reader gets a sense, not only of the history of the club, but of how the club fits into the wider sweep of history, both local, national and international. I hope all of the clubs will produce a similar history. Lee Freeman About the Author: David grew up in Jasper and Montgomery - He graduated from Robert E.
