Description - Integration and Resistance by Ricard Moren-Alegret
The main aim of this book is - from social sciences and, more concretely, from human geography - to answer the question: how are capital, governments and social movements organized in the processes of integration and resistance that affect "foreign immigrants" and other people in Barcelona and Lisbon? The text looks at the possibility of the chance to build international movements aiming to foster social life. Transnational migrations and the organization of immigrants may be relevant to reach such an objective. It asks what the orientation of social organizations and movements has been in relation to Spain and Portugal's "foreign immigration" during recent decades, and the processes in which they were involved; who participates in such organizations; who is funding these movements, and what alliances have taken place; how important have geographical, economic, political or social events been in such orientations; what their spatial locations have been; what their relationship has been with governments and what the governments role has been; the various ways that money is influential in social organizations; and how capitalists are organized in Iberia.
