Agriculture revived in the reign of Hen ry VIII., and in that of Elizabeth, during the long peace which then prevailed; and it afterwards declined during the civil wars. It again revived during the reigns of Wil liam 'and Mary, Queen Anne, and George I in' consequence of the introduction of Flemish husbandry, which introduced the culture of turnips and clover.
