Description - Shark Bay by Martin Chambers

The story follows six people who set out to retrace the route of three kayakers who disappeared on an expedition the year before. Although each of them shares a love of kayaking they might have little else in common, but by the fire and under the stars each night, as they share meals and stories and philosophies, we come to learn that each of them has a reason to be there that is more than just the desire to paddle along a remote and beautiful coastline. It becomes increasingly obvious that something sinister has happened and that whatever it was has a link to each of them. The slow pace of kayaking and the wonderful descriptions of Shark Bay serve as a backdrop for increasing tensions within the group. As they paddle closer to Cape Inscription the sense of isolation and foreboding builds to a dramatic confrontation. They must flee, barefoot, across the barren waterless interior. It is desperate, and then gruesome.
