markets, it is one of the primary contributors to earnings in

foreign exchange. It has acquired mystical importance in diAerent

parts of life, including as birth, marriage, death, and agriculture,

and its applications extend far beyond culinary usage. wlthough it

is not found in its natural state, India is the biggest producer of

turmeric in the 7orld and is responsible for more than 0J percent

of the total output of turmeric 7orld7ide. wccording to Rohnny

and va2indran ('JJ'), India1s extensi2e culti2ation occupies around

5,888,9JJ hectares, produces approximately 8,49,6JJ tonnes yearly,

and accounts for nearly 9' percent of the 7orld1s total production.

wdditionally, India1s culti2ation is a substantial contributor to foreign

exchange re2enue, 7hich amounts to approximately SJ crores

each year.
