A lively and rousing concert opener written for the opening concert of the celebrated Snape Maltings concert hall arranged here for wind band by Thad Marciniak. Performable with or without chorus, Britten makes dramatic use of a chorale tune most often associated with Bach, but here given a new lease of life with telling effect.
