Description - The Descendants of John Russell of Dartmouth, Mass (Classic Reprint) by Barrett Beard Russell

Excerpt from The Descendants of John Russell of Dartmouth, Mass

It is thought by some that he was the son of Ralph Russell of Pontipool, Monmouthshire, Wales, who came to Braintree, Mass, and from there went to Taunton, Mass, in 1652, to build iron-works in company with the broth ers James and Henry Leonard (bailies's Hist. Of Plymouth, pt. II., p. It has been stated that Ralph later went to Dartmouth, and started a forge at Russell's Mills, and was the ancestor of the Russells of that town; but I have been unable to find any proof that he was the father of John, or that he built the aforesaid forge. John is thought to have been born in 1608.

He married Dorothy and died 2: 13: 1694 - 5. She died 12: 13 1687.
