Description - The Feeling by Ronald G Farley

This book is a work of fiction, but it is based on events as told to Ronald G. Farley. The events depicted here are gritty, compelling, and told with respect for the many American and Filipino service men who served - and died - during the brutal World War II conflict that has come to be known as the Bataan Death March. During the war, American and Filipino soldiers were forced to surrender to Japan due to a lack of ammunition, medical supplies, and food. The POWs were required to march for 60 miles and then had to endure deplorable conditions in prison camps. Many GIs survived the brutality and isolation of capture by holding onto memories of loved ones. Young wives, children, siblings, and parents waited to learn the fates of their military heroes. Just as GIs held onto the thought of returning to their loved ones, so the loved ones held just as tightly to the hope that one day they would be reunited. Love is a powerful force, and it surely played a role in returning some of the beleaguered and downtrodden souls who proudly wore their country's uniform and fought, with many giving their lives, to protect the freedom their families enjoyed. This story tells of such a love. As the Holy Bible says: Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails. (1 Corinthians 13:4-8a)
