St. Leonard was born in 1676 at Port Maurice, near Genoa. He went to Rome to study, and there took on the Franciscan habit at the friary of St. Bonaventure. St. Leonard was zealous for souls, and wanted to be a missionary to foreign lands; instead he was called by God to give missions to the Christians of his own country.
For twenty-four years, amid great hardships and dangers, he preached missions in every corner of Italy. The power of his words, which flowed from his strict life converted countless sinners. He also built retreat houses for his order, and founded pious confraternities in Rome to spread the devotion to the Sacred Heart and perpetual adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. "My Jesus, mercy!" was the prayer always upon his lips.
In this book, you will learn:
-The holy life of St. Leonard;
-His zeal for souls on his missionary journeys;
-His great love for the Blessed Virgin Mary;
-His incredible miracles during and after his life.
"St. Leonard was the great missionary of the 18th century."
-St. Alphonsus Liguori
