The substance of the following narrative, drawn up by Dr. Rheinwald, of Berlin, was first commu micated to the Repertory for Theological Litera ture and Ecclesiastical Statistics, e a periodical of which he is the editor. It was afterwards en larged and published in a separate form, the fourth edition of which has been used for the present translation.
The subject to which it relates was, I believe, first introduced to the English public by the Rev.
