The last 20 years have witnessed a massive transformation in business corporations, especially global organisations, which have been forced by market pressures to re-define their strategies, structures and processes. This Report explores the role of performance measurement systems (PMS) in integrating global organisations. The Report combines insights from current debates on global organisations with the empirical findings of a series of case studies. Over a period of three years (2002-2004) studies were undertaken of global organisations, operating in Italy, US and UK. Through discussions with finance experts and other organisational participants, the collection of documentary evidence and meetings attend, the case studies examine the ways in which organisational members view the current and future role of PMS in the processes of achieving organisational integration.
