All rules and regulations, planning procedures, land and property law and taxation are comprehensively explained. Also described in detail, are the way it all works in practice, what processes are in operation, and who the actors in the process are. The topics are illustrated by up-to-date data and detailed case studies of representative projects. Each book is written to the same structure, to make cross-comparison easy, enabling the reader to look up equivalent topics in each. The contributors were originally invited to participate in a five-country research project, commissioned in 1991 by the German Federal Government, and upon which this series is based. This particular title has been completely updated since then and includes an account, in German, which sets out to be a comprehensive guide to the situation throughout the UK.
Both the land and property sections are illustrated by case studies of actual projects from different sectors (housing, commercial and industrial) and from parts of the country with distinctive features, contrasting economic bases and levels of prosperity: London, South East England, North East England and the Grampian region of Scotland.
